Hobart is a great base for exploring southern Tasmania, including the iconic landmark – Port Arthur. Port Arthur is around a 90 minute drive from Best Western Hobart and is a World Heritage listed site. It is regarded as the best-preserved convict site in Australia, and among the most significant convict era sites worldwide.

Sitting on the Tasman Peninsula – it was a 19th century penal settlement and features an open-air museum. Well-preserved ruins include the penitentiary and the remaining shell of the Convict Church, which was built by hand by inmates.

You can visit this site via ticketed entry, which give you two consecutive days to explore and enjoy the many site and activities. Including:
